The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection will conduct the recruitment exam for a probationary officer from October 7 onwards. Therefore, candidates have few more days to prepare for the preliminary exam. These tips by Abhishek Kalra from Vidyaguru coaching institute will ease your last days’ preparation problem.
Quantitative aptitude: Data interpretation and analysis are always asked in all banking exams. Here you have to analyse charts/ diagrams to find out the solution. In arithmetic, revise questions on profit and loss, time and work, simple interest and compound interest.
To find out the level of difficulty, do check the sample papers.
Simplification aims to test a candidate’s ability to do quick calculations, therefore, focus on the calculation-based questions. Percentage, ratio in proportion and fractions are important and there will be two-three questions asked on each. The percentage and fractions are skill set required for both data interpretation and simplification.
Reasoning: This section tests your problem-solving, decision-making skills and logical abilities. Focus on puzzle-based questions, seating arrangement (circular and linear) and blood relations. Usually, 5 marks are allotted to the mathematical inequations and syllogism each.
Also practise coding and decoding, series-based questions (finding wrong or missing number), input-output based questions as well.
English: This section basically tests an aspirant’s reading skills. There’ll be a comprehension where they’ll ask indirect questions. Therefore candidates have to read between the lines and understand what the author means to convey. They’ll be passage-based questions, word meaning, sentence improvement and error spotting.
In these last days, keep revising maths formulas. IBPS also has some online mock tests that are available on the official website.
