Expl:- The launch of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) satellite has been pegged at an estimated Rs. 235 crore and the cost associated with the launch will be met by the country, Parliament was informed on 23^rd July. It will enable full range of applications and services to the member-nations in the areas of telecommunication and broadcasting applications namely television, direct-to-home, very small aperture terminals, tele-education, telemedicine and disaster management support, Minister of State for Atomic Energy and Space Jitendra Singh said in the Rajya Sabha. The satellite was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the SAARC summit in Nepal in November last. The Indian Space Research Organisation will build the satellite with 12 Ku-band transponders and launch it using the Indian Geostationary Launch Vehicle Mk-II. A one-day conference was held in New Delhi on June 22 to discuss the proposal in which delegations from all the SAARC member nations participated.

The NISAR mission is a dual frequency (L&S Band) Radar Imaging Satellite. In this joint mission, Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)/ NASA will be responsible for design & development of L-band SAR, 12m unfurlable antenna, GPS system and data recorder. ISRO will be responsible for design & development of S-band SAR, Spacecraft Bus, data transmission system, Spacecraft integration & testing, launch using GSLV and on-orbit operations.

Seventh seed Indo-Swiss pair drubbed the fifth seed Austrian-Hungarian team. It was Paes’ eighth mixed doubles title and second with Hingis. They had won the Australian Open early this year. 42-year-old Paes has eight men’s doubles crowns in his Grand Slam collection. Paes’ win capped an incredibly successful Wimbledon for India as the country took three titles this year.

Expl:-  In IPL spot fixing case, The Supreme court panel headed by retired Justice Lodha on 14^th July banned both the franchisee stake holder Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra for life from all cricket related activities. Chennai Super Kings, and Rajasthan Royals were suspended from the cash-rich cricket league for two years for betting activities of their key officials Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra during the 2013 season.  The punishment was handed down by a Supreme Court- appointed three-member committee headed by former CJI R M Lodha which held that the betting activities of the two officials, Meiyappan, considered the face of CSK owners, and Kundra, co-owner of Rajasthan Royals, have brought the game of cricket, BCCI and IPL into disrepute. The Committee also imposed sanctions including life suspensions for Meiyappan and Kundra from being involved in any cricket matches conducted by BCCI.
